CHESTER ZOO

Chester Zoo is a painting series that was inspired by a meaningful interaction between the artist and his young son during a break from setting up a new studio.

Although seemingly abstract at first glance, they are in fact based on the artist’s early use of a Polaroid camera during his childhood visits to Chester Zoo but impatience often resulted in the photographic paper being exposed too soon—yielding bright orange lines, inky blacks, and glossy whites instead of the intended image of say a hippo these early attempts at photography although technically imperfect made a lasting visual imprint on the artist and offer a different perspective.

These early impressions invites viewers to reflect on the impermanence of life and the passage of time.

BEAUTIFUL DECAY

Beautiful Decay, is a close examination of the often overlooked aspects of our built environment. This early collection showcases Sidney's innovative experimental paintings that push boundaries and redefine traditional painting methods. With meticulous attention to detail, these works challenge our perceptions and brings to our attention the hidden beauty in abandoned and forgotten urban spaces. The artist invites the audience to rediscover the finer details of the world through the striking lens of an artist to take a closer look at what's around us the obvious and not so obvious.
